look: St. Demetrios festival

Every May, for four days (or thereabouts), the annual Greek festival takes over the St. Demetrios cathedral and surrounding streets behind our apartment building. This involves somewhat terrifying fairground rides lighting up the facade of the church, booths for the shooting of stuff and winning of stuffed animals, a feast of Greek dishes and Greek-er bands, and much screaming from the neighborhood kids, who clearly live all year for this.
